Supporting Relay For Life in Lee County
Autosport Bodyworks is proud to be a sponsor of the 2024 Relay For Life in Lee County, a cause that holds deep personal significance for our owners, Shey and Jeff. Relay For Life isn't just an event; it's a beacon of hope in the fight against cancer that dates back for decades.
In May 1985, Dr. Klatt embarked on a 24-hour walk and run around a track in Tacoma, Washington. His goal was to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, igniting a movement that has since spread globally. With the support of friends, family, and patients, Dr. Klatt covered over 83.6 miles and raised $27,000, laying the foundation for Relay For Life.
For Shey and Jeff, this cause hits close to home. Shey has experienced the impact of cancer firsthand, losing his father and battling melanoma himself. Jeff also lost his grandfather to this relentless disease. These personal experiences fuel their dedication to supporting Relay For Life and its mission.
At its core, Relay For Life celebrates the resilience of survivors and honors those lost to cancer. It serves as a powerful testament to unity, bringing communities together to raise funds for research, support services, and awareness initiatives. This solidarity provides comfort to those currently battling cancer and their families, reminding them that they are not alone in their journey.
The local Relay For Life event in Lee County will take place on Friday, May 3rd, at Courthouse Square in downtown Opelika.
